Players in Extreme Drag Racing games assume the role of a drag racer and compete in various drag racing events. The goal is to achieve the fastest acceleration from a standing start and cross the finish line ahead of your opponent.

Game rules

  • The race begins with both vehicles lined up side by side at the starting line, which is often marked by a light tree or a starting lights system.
  • The Christmas Tree is a string of lights that counts down to the start of the race. It is made up of three amber lights (pre-stage, stage, and green) at the top and three yellow lights (pro-stage, amber, and green) at the bottom.
  •  Staging occurs when each driver moves their vehicle forward until the front tires break a light beam. This means the vehicles are ready to race.
  • The Christmas Tree lights will begin to descend once both vehicles have been staged. The goal is to launch the vehicle exactly when the green light illuminates, signaling the start of the race.
  •  Acceleration: Once the race begins, both drivers try to get their vehicles down the track as quickly as possible in order to cross the finish line first.
  •  The finish line signifies the end of the race. The winner is the first vehicle to cross the finish line.
  • Drag racing frequently employs timing systems that measure elapsed time (ET) and speed. The time it takes a vehicle to travel from the starting line to the finish line is referred to as ET. Miles per hour (or kilometers per hour) is the unit of measurement.
  •  Lane Selection: In some cases, racers may be able to select their lane prior to the race. Lane selection is important because track conditions differ between lanes.
